When the parasite egg hatches, the young bloodsucker larva preys on the host (the bug) and kills it. Usually that host is enough to feed the immature bloodsucker until it becomes a grown-up. Numerous bloodsuckers are very certain to the kind of host pest they can assault, and they are not unsafe to people.
